Take a Walk on the Wild Side

After watching Cersei's GOT walk of shame on Sunday, I got to thinking: Wouldn't it be nice if LJ had its own rebirth of sorts, and returned to exploring productive ideas on how Barnes & Noble might rebound in the current business climate? Way back when I started posting here, I made the following predictions on how BN might stay viable:

1. Comfy chairs & couches, making the bookstore a destination to relax, read, and have coffee.
2. Expanded Cafe service, including a better menu, and wine bars at certain locations.
3. Smaller on-site book selections, focused on fast-moving titles.
4. In-house POD machines, allowing immediate printing - rather than ordering.

Now, who wants to guess why I'm bringing this up again?

You must really want a chair to wack off in. Please don't forget to wipe your jizz off the cushion as you leave.

add these...
1) Match the online prices in store. (or set the prices so that they are the same.)
2) focus on expanding the digital content available. Books, movies, music, apps, maybe even online courses similar to what itunes has.

Come over to Barnes & Noble College Bookstores. I don't have any of these issues and we don't use that scheduling software. I am the Cafe Manager for a NY location and we all work as a team and wel all love our jobs.

Ouchie....stock at $9.44 and not much cash in the bank. Stores look like toy stores.

B&N bathrooms look horrible
One big sign this company is struggling is how bad the bathrooms look. Torn wallpaper, graffiti and dirty bathrooms.

Kind of sounds like the fabulous Amazon book stores that will be replacing all of the bn toy stores.

All retail is doomed
All retail is doomed because of online shopping. If you look at downtown areas you will see its mainly restaurants & bars that are keeping downtown areas thriving. I love books but there is no way bookstores can compete without selling other products and food. B&N of the 90's era is gone!
