I Have an Interview!

Hello all! I was just invited to an interview at my local BN this wednesday. Im a litle nervous and was wondering if anyone could offer up some advice? The position I'm being considered for is a cafe server, but I would really enjoy eventually becoming a bookseller! I would appreciate any help you have to offer! Thank you! :)

Two things to remember
1. Ignore every other post below after this one.

2. Spend a little time in the store and see if you would enjoy working there. I love my store. See if you can love yours by talking and listening to the people who work there.

Good Luck

LOL good luck, sweetie! Project confidence and a helpful attitude, and you'll go far - probably as far as you'd ever wish.

Interview
Be yourself, but answer the questions with specific examples. It's okay to be nervous, but make sure you look your interviewer in the eye, and don't be to shy. We need to know you will be friendly and outgoing to customers. Dress in business casual. I can't tell you how many times someone comes in wearing shorts, jeans or flip flops. Your care in your appearance is the first thing we notice. We want to see your desire for the position. Learn the Café first, then ask to work on the Bookseller training curriculum if offered the job. Showcase your desire to be a leader in sales and customer service. Good Luck!

I'll second this advise. As a cafe server with B&N, you will be treated as a second class employee. Most booksellers treat cafe like the plague.

Starbucks, as a company, respects their employees as valuable human beings. The same CAN NOT be said about B&N!

I've worked in the cafe for two years before i was transferred out.
trust me, once you get into cafe you don't leave. I was honestly a big dea that I was even able to leave cafe without being fired or demoted.

Don't bother working here because they will only let you go when they are done with you. This is a part time job and not a full time job. Try a temp company and see if you can get on with a company with a future.

Also try:

Indeed
Monster jobs
Starbucks
Ask friends & family
Job boards
Network
Labor dept
Craiglist jobs
Backpages

I worked at BN for over 9 years. Saw many people start in cafe with the hopes of moving to book floor. It never happened. If you can't get hired as a bookseller, try your local library. Trust me, the hours & pay will be better there.

Working at BN
If you want a good place to work that can be a career, don't pick BN.

Read this book on Amazon:

Beneath the Dust Jacket.

Can anyone answer my question
Hi everyone! Holiday hire here! So we are all-other holiday hires- applying for permanent positions, and today I had four out of five managers ask me if I would ever consider working in cafe. No other holiday hires have gotten asked. Does this mean something that I am not aware of? I am freaking out. I would love to stay within the actual store
